Project Storefronts Continues to Attract Cutting Edge Artists
(5/8/2012) Project Storefronts continues to attract pioneering arts to underutilized spaces, announcing a series of cutting-edge, exciting events throughout May at 756 Chapel Street. Located in the Ninth Square at the old Goldie & Libro site, an underutilized building with a rich arts history, 756 Chapel has become a hub for the New Haven arts community.
“Project Storefronts continues to contribute to a sustainable creative economy in New Haven by increasing ‘feet on the street’ and economic vitality through tourism, events, retail shopping, art exhibits and business development workshops,” said Economic Development Administrator Kelly Murphy. “It’s a ‘win-win’ for all. Since its inception, Project Storefronts has been the incubator for six businesses in New Haven. Through the increased activity all of the vacant spaces used so far by Project Storefronts have been leased,” she said.
Stay-tuned for announcements later this month regarding upcoming installation collaborations such as On 9, The Brooklyn/New Haven Artist Exchange and Artspace Installation.
